Originally this project started as a single snapshot taken for fun. It ended up becoming a full project of 36 photos taken over the period of a year, with a selection of 12 shown here . Whilst working at the School of Creative Arts in Wrexham I would often spend down time with my friend Georgia Nielson, who was a student there at the time. Being who I am, I would always have my camera on me, and Georgia was used to me pointing it at her all the time, so I’d photograph her on her smoking break. It was always at the same place out back, with the same seat, that became known as “The Smoking Chair”.
